Job Description The Director of Marketing is a visionary leader who will grow the Long Center’s brand, audience, and impact while driving earned revenue and supporting contributed revenue goals. Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer, this role oversees marketing strategy, brand development, communications, and digital engagement. The Director will serve on the Senior Leadership council, collaborating across Programming, Development, Sales, Ticketing/Box Office and Production to align marketing with organizational goals while leading an internal team and agency partners.

The ideal candidate is a creative strategist with strong leadership skills, a passion for connecting audiences with entertainment brands, and the ability to transform data and insights into compelling campaigns and recaps. They thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment and can inspire innovation while delivering measurable results.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership : Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy that drives ticket sales, enhances the Long Center brand, expands audiences, and supports contributed revenue goals. Brand & Creative : Lead brand positioning, storytelling, and creative campaign development to reflect the Long Center’s mission and role in Austin’s cultural landscape. Audience Growth and Retention : Design multi-channel marketing plans (digital, social, traditional, grassroots) to expand reach, engage diverse audiences, and deepen loyalty. Digital Innovation : Oversee website, CRM, automation tools, email and SMS platform, and all other digital platforms with a focus on customer journey, personalization, and conversion. Media & PR : Serve as the organization’s communications lead, managing media relations, publicity, and reputation-building efforts to elevate visibility and impact. Revenue Alignment : Partner with Development and Sales teams to create marketing strategies that drive memberships, fundraising campaigns, corporate sponsorships, and private rentals. Partnerships & Community : Cultivate media, corporate, and community partnerships that amplify reach and extend brand presence. Team & Culture : Inspire, coach, and grow a high-performing marketing team; fostering creativity, collaboration, and accountability across the organization. Budget & Analytics : Manage the marketing budget, optimize spend, and lead data-driven decision making with regular reporting on performance and ROI. Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field. 10+ years of progressive marketing leadership, with proven success in brand-building, digital strategy, and audience engagement (performing arts or live events experience strongly preferred). Demonstrated ability to lead teams, inspire creativity, manage external agencies/vendors, and navigate competing internal priorities. Expertise in digital marketing, media buying, analytics, CRM systems, SEO/SEM, and marketing automation. Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders across diverse audiences. Exceptional project management skills; able to balance strategic vision with hands-on execution. Data-driven thinker with a track record of using insights to optimize campaigns and improve ROI. Passion for the entertainment industry (arts, culture, sports, concerts, theme parks, etc.) and building lasting connections with audiences.
