General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of duties in all areas of the Store and may be asked to perform additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a safe, clutter-free sales floor and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; friendly and professional at all times. Recognizes fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
  • Assists Customers as needed; is register-trained, helps with merchandise, and answers questions politely and knowledgeably. Greets Customers with eye contact, smiles, and says "hello"; thanks Customers during checkout.
  • Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customers; responds to Service calls and escalates to Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks and replenishes supplies to help maintain a neat store and well-presented merchandise.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the dress code.
  • Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Understands Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguards confidential information and cash handling integrity.
  • Follows MOS (Missed-Out-of-Stock) policies and proper processing of each piece.
  • Adheres to policies for cash, checks, cards, refunds, voids, and offline procedures.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency to maximize productivity and follow Store best practices.

Qualifications and Special Skills

  • Effective communication with Customers, Associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail.

Physical Requirements / ADA

  • Ability to use all Store equipment including PDTs, registers, and PC as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store for up to 100% of the working time.
  • Ability to regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other supplies.
  • Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
