Overview

Lumina Healthcare has an exciting opportunity for a Full or Part-Time Dental Assistant to work in the Los Angeles, CA area. Qualified candidates will travel by company van to multiple facilities that are located within a designated territory. We are currently seeking a Dental Assistant to join our progressive mobile dental practice.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare clinical cart and supplies for the day’s schedule and drive to various health care facilities in the company vehicle.
  • Assist the dentist with setting up for treatment and clean up after treatment is completed.
  • Carry equipment in and out of facilities and set up as required.
  • At the end of the day, clean and sterilize instruments and get a list ready to restock the cart.

Qualifications

  • Dental Certificate and X-ray Certification required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Duties

  • Weekday commitment: No call or weekends.
  • Assisting Dentist in the post-acute care setting.
  • Round daily at multiple facilities.
  • Available for frequent overtime due to varied travel distances.

Essential Job Functions

  • Prepare clinical cart and supplies for the day’s schedule.
  • Drive to and from health care facilities in the company vehicle.
  • Check in with Social Services upon arrival at facility; provide check-in and check-out forms.
  • Communicate and interact with facility staff as needed.
  • Verify patient identification prior to treatment.
  • Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures.
  • Ask about the patient’s medical history and take blood pressure and pulse when requested.
  • Implement infection control protocol, and sterilize instruments and equipment.
  • Help patients feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatment.
  • Explain post-treatment oral care instructions; provide oral hygiene instructions.
  • Maintain patient records accurately and confidentially.
  • Complete Patient Summary and other reports as needed.
  • Order supplies as needed.
  • Load equipment, supplies, lab cases and charts into the vehicle and transport to/from facilities.
  • Ensure all equipment, instruments, and supplies are accounted for before exiting a facility.
  • Maintain cleanliness and inventory levels in mobile carts/units.
  • Maintain chart/record security during facilities visits and transit.
  • Handle and account for lab cases as needed.
  • Operate the company vehicle in a safe, compliant manner according to company policies.
  • Participate in all training requirements of the company.
  • Only perform duties permitted by the scope of licensure as a Dental Assistant.

Skills/Experience/Licensure Requirements

  • Two years’ experience as a dental assistant or equivalent preferred; training available for new entrants.
  • Dental Certificate and X-ray Certification required.
  • Knowledge of dental instruments, procedures, sterilization, and infection control.
  • Driving of company vehicle required; must have California or Arizona driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
  • Familiar with basic computer usage for online training, patient record access, and email.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds to carry equipment in and out of facilities and the corporate office.

Our experienced dentists perform rounds in Skilled Nursing Facilities, providing dental care to residents of post-acute rehab settings, nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and long-term acute care hospitals.

  • Gross motor skills; ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds for equipment carts.
