GOAL: Reporting to the Manager, IT & Systems, the IT Specialist will provide technical support, manage IT infrastructure, and ensure the security, functionality, and reliability of the organization’s hardware, software, and network systems. This role will play a key part in maintaining daily technology operations, troubleshooting technical issues, and implementing system improvements to enhance efficiency.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Exempt

Responsibilities

  • Technical Support — Provide timely help desk support to staff for hardware, software, and network issues. Troubleshoot and resolve IT-related problems via phone, email, or in person. Assist in the setup, configuration, and maintenance of user accounts, devices, and software.
  • System Administration — Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, servers, and peripheral devices. Manage email systems, shared drives, and collaboration tools. Ensure proper backup and recovery processes are in place and functioning.
  • Cybersecurity & Data Protection — Implement and maintain security protocols, firewalls, and antivirus systems. Conduct regular security audits to identify and mitigate risks. Ensure compliance with data protection policies and relevant regulations.
  • System Upgrades & Projects — Research, recommend, and implement technology solutions that align with organizational needs. Support organization-wide IT projects, including software rollouts and system migrations. Test and deploy hardware and software upgrades with minimal disruption to operations.
  • Training & Documentation — Provide training to staff on IT systems, cybersecurity best practices, and new technologies. Maintain accurate IT documentation, including asset inventory, system configurations, and procedures. Develop user guides and self-help resources to promote technology self-sufficiency.
  • Other — Stay current with emerging technologies and IT trends relevant to the organization’s work. Attend required meetings, training sessions, and organizational events. Perform other IT-related duties as assigned to support operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field AND 3-4 years of IT experience, OR at least 3 (3) years’ experience in IT
  • Highly proficient in Excel.
  • Is able to anticipate, communicate, and resolve challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proactive communicator. Is customer service focused.
  • Able to be autonomous and have ownership of one’s own deliverables, meet deadlines, prioritize effectively, and perform as a productive team member.
  • Ability to maintain integrity and confidentiality.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

Hours

Work hours are 8:00 am -45:30 pm Mon-Fri; however, it is expected that this person will work a flexible schedule.
