Compensation and Benefits
 
  • $45,000 -$70,000 annually based on experience.  This is a non-exempt position.  
  • Health Coverage – Kaiser or Blue Cross PPO or HMO; employer pays 100% premium for employee and dependents for Kaiser. The equivalent premium can be used towards PPO or HMO.
  • Dental – Met Life; employer pays 100% of premium for employee and dependents.
  • Vision – Met Life; employer pays 100% of premium for employee and dependents.
  • Life/AD&D – Employer covers employees for 1 ½ times annual salary. Additional life coverage for the employee and dependents available at an additional cost to the employee.
  • Long Term Disability – Employer pays 100% of premium for the employer.
  • EAP & Med-Ex Travel Assist – Employer pays 100% of premium for the employee.
  • Retirement – CSAC participates in the San Bernardino Retirement System (SBCERA). 457(b) available through Nationwide Retirement. Employees may contribute to this pre-tax through a payroll deduction.
  • Vacation & Sick Leave – Employees accrue vacation upon employment equal to two weeks a year increasing up to five weeks after 15 years of employment. Exempt employees not eligible for overtime pay also receive up to 5 administrative leave days a year. Full-time employees earn one paid sick leave day per month (12 days per year).
  • Other Benefits – Flexible Spending Accounts, Optional Insurance Discounts, Employee Parking/Transportation Allowance, and Continuing Education. CSAC does not pay into Social Security because a pension is offered (6.2% salary savings).
  • CSAC does not pay into State Disability Insurance because of in-house short-term disability (1% salary savings).

Schedule

8:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday – Friday

This is a full-time position based at our Sacramento office and requires minimal travel.

General Responsibilities
 
  • Provides administrative and logistical support for the Association’s 2 annual conferences, and 2-3 annual regional meetings, which include processing registration, preparing materials, coordinating communications with attendees and vendors, creating and updating event microsites and registration pages, and assisting with onsite logistics.
  • Advances the Association’s mission to highlight the stories of California’s 58 diverse counties by supporting the coordination of the President’s multiple statewide site visits, and other local incounty staff visits, ensuring timely communication, well-structured itineraries, and seamless logistics.
  • Supports the planning and execution of the Association’s 8 annual Executive Committee and Board of Directors meetings, along with related special events. Responsibilities may include researching and securing venues, coordinating with vendors, preparing meeting materials, and providing on-site logistical support.
  • Provides travel coordination support for the Association’s 4 Officers, including arranging hotel accommodations, flights, and rental vehicles for statewide engagements.
  • Manages and updates member and county staff records, distribution lists, event participation databases, and other database projects as assigned, in CSAC’s Association Management Software (AMS).
  • Compiles, organizes, processes and submits expense reports, reimbursement requests and related reports.
  • Assists in developing the annual California Counties Roster.
  • Responds promptly and thoughtfully to CSAC member requests for information, ensuring our members feel supported.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with members, staff, affiliates and related partners.
  • Performs various routine clerical duties.
  • Supports cross-departmental initiatives, special projects, and working groups as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Customer service principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with modern office procedures, collaboration tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams). 
  • Proficiency in maintaining records, databases and distribution lists.
  • Refined communication and interpersonal skills; must be able to interact with elected officials, colleagues, supervisors, general public, etc. sufficiently to exchange or convey information and receive work direction.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask, work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Performs various routine clerical duties, utilizing standard office equipment, which includes taking and transmitting messages; pulling information from databases; making photocopies; performing data entry; and word processing.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, critical thinking skills, and attention to detail.
  • High school diploma or similar degree.
  • 3+ years of increasingly responsible experience in administrative support role.
  • Experience in the office of a similar association, legislative office or legal office would be preferred.
