*Position Summary*
We are seeking a highly skilled *Systems Engineer III* to lead investigations and solutions for material handling equipment (MHE) performance issues across a national logistics and operations network. This role is ideal for a systems-oriented engineer with a background in root cause analysis, Lean Six Sigma, and hands-on operational problem-solving.The ideal candidate will have experience managing performance challenges in high-throughput environments, particularly involving conveyor systems, automated equipment, or distribution center infrastructure. The role combines onsite leadership with technical expertise and offers the opportunity to scale solutions across a large footprint of facilities.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Serve as the project lead in field investigations of conveyor and MHE performance issues. * Conduct in-depth root cause analyses and identify long-term corrective actions. * Lead daily onsite operational meetings and deliver both daily and weekly performance reports. * Coordinate cross-functional teams, including operations, design, maintenance, and engineering. * Manage the repair process and drive accountability among internal and external stakeholders. * Develop scalable solutions that can be implemented across similar facilities. * Interface with vendors and third-party contractors to execute repairs and process improvements. * Translate technical findings into clear documentation, summaries, and recommendations. * Apply Lean methodologies and continuous improvement techniques to systemic problems.
*Required Qualifications*
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) or equivalent hands-on experience. * Minimum 3–7 years of engineering experience in an operational or systems environment. * Demonstrated experience conducting and leading *root cause analysis (RCA)*. * Strong project management and stakeholder communication skills. * Proven ability to operate independently in a field-based role with minimal oversight. * Experience working with *material handling systems*such as conveyor belts, robotics, or automated sortation equipment. * Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma methodologies and continuous improvement practices. * Comfortable managing multiple concurrent field projects with overlapping deadlines.
*Preferred Qualifications*
* Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher). * Working knowledge of SQL for data queries and reporting. * Prior experience in high-volume distribution centers or logistics environments. * Technical writing experience, particularly around documentation of corrective actions, SOPs, or post-mortem reports. * Experience in mechanical, electrical, or controls systems development is a strong plus.
