This Senior Software Development Engineer position reports to the Business Performance Engineering team, which is responsible for designing and building the Data Quality Platform to support EG's data quality needs, integrated with our extensive Data Platform. As a Senior Engineer, you will play a key technical leadership role in developing the new Data Quality Platform, establishing standards, and mentoring engineers on coding best practices. In this role, you will: Mentor other engineers and contribute to their growth within the team. Create and own the project systems and technical architecture for the team. Guide technical integrations with other teams across the business unit. Understand highly complex systems and take the lead in designing moderately complex systems. Identify and advocate for project quality through robust testing, monitoring, and alerting at the project level. Establish and track operational excellence metrics for the team's services. Guide others in designing software that is inherently testable, observable, and maintainable. Demonstrate a strong understanding of how team goals connect to broader business needs. Identify business problems at the team level and architect effective solutions. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience. 8+ years of professional software development experience with advanced proficiency in object-oriented programming languages such as Java. 8+ years for Bachelors. 5+ years for Masters. Advanced knowledge of software architecture and design patterns. Experience designing and building microservices and RESTful APIs. Experience with Java frameworks and technologies such as Spring, Hibernate, or JPA. Experience with relational databases such as SQL. Knowledge of version control systems, preferably Git. Experience with ETL processes and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Kafka) for building data pipelines. Experience with data quality tools. Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with data anomaly detection. Past experience developing or managing data platforms or equivalent is a big plus. Familiarity with front-end technologies (e.g., JavaScript, HTML, CSS). The total cash range for this position in Austin is $173,000.00 to $242,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $277,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role. Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
