Now Hiring: Industrial Controls Technician Valdese, NC | Contract-to-Hire | $31.00 – $35.00 per hour (DOE) We are hiring on behalf of our client in Valdese, NC for a Contract-to-Hire Industrial Controls Technician. This is a hands-on role with competitive pay, based on experience. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in industrial automation, controls systems, and troubleshooting across a range of equipment. Position Summary As an Industrial Controls Technician, you’ll be responsible for supporting and maintaining industrial equipment and controls across the manufacturing floor. You will provide both preventative and emergency support for automation systems, PLCs, HMIs, drives, and other critical control hardware. This is a contract-to-hire role with the potential for long-term employment based on performance and business needs. ️ Key Responsibilities Perform hands-on troubleshooting, repairs, and adjustments to complex electrical and mechanical systems. Provide technical support for legacy and new control systems, including installation, setup, and commissioning. Backup and manage machine control programs in the ICT database. Collaborate with engineering on equipment upgrades, special projects, and process improvements. Maintain tools, test equipment, and repair materials in good working order. Perform repairs involving switches, fuses, relays, motors (24VDC–600VAC), and panel components. Replace mechanical components such as gears, cams, and chain drives. Read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic schematics, and mechanical drawings. Assist with electrical panel building and understand regulated/unregulated designs. Program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs (RSLogix 500/5000), HMI panels, and Servo drives. Support robotic systems and camera/vision systems when needed. Follow proper documentation and communication procedures for program changes. Comply with OSHA and facility safety standards, including PPE requirements. Required Skills & Qualifications 5+ years of experience in an Industrial Controls Technician or similar role. Strong experience with PLC troubleshooting and programming (Allen Bradley preferred). Proficient with industrial electrical systems: AC/DC circuits, motor control, sensors, relays, and VFDs. Hands-on experience with Servo drive setup and programming. Knowledge of HMI programming, industrial networks, and control logic. Ability to read and create AutoCAD electrical schematics. Familiarity with oscilloscopes, volt-ohm meters, amp meters, and other diagnostic tools. Understanding of National Electrical Code and industrial safety practices. Experience with industrial robots is a plus. Must be able to lift equipment, operate power lifts, and pass respirator certification (as needed). Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be able to pass a color vision test. Education & Training Associate Degree in Electronics or equivalent work experience (minimum 5 years). Hands-on training with Allen Bradley platforms (RSLogix 500/5000) required. Experience with robotic systems and vision systems is a plus. ✅ Other Requirements Must provide a basic set of hand tools. Must be comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with voltages up to 600VAC, air pressure up to 150 PSI, and hydraulic pressures up to 2000 PSI. Apply Today!
