Job Description Salary: Technician Process Development
Enzymes is seeking a technician to join our Process Development Team. The primary function of this role is to perform process validation activities for new products as they are transitioned from the research and development phase to the manufacturing phase. The successful candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team committed to developing sustainable solutions that change the future of agriculture.
Responsibilities Design, plan, and perform experiments to establish scalability metrics of manufacturing unit operations, to expand product technical knowledge, to improve understanding of process robustness, to refine and optimize processes, and to compare new and existing methods and technologies. Conduct productions at lab and pilot scale. Be responsible for production equipment in the pilot lab, including scheduling, maintenance, and training of new users. Analyze samples from process validation experiments. Create and maintain inventory of raw materials, finished products, and samples. Keep detailed laboratory records. Identify major findings from experiments that guide decision making and inspire follow-up investigation. Effectively communicate progress and summarize data. Assist with writing protocols and procedures that result from process development efforts. Provide support to process engineers during internal and external technology transfers and process qualification projects.
Qualifications and Skills Bachelors degree in
biochemical/bioprocess
engineering, biotechnology, biochemistry, microbiology, or related field. Experience in industry is preferred. Experience can be based in a research lab setting or in a manufacturing environment and relevant industries include biotech, pharma, and food production. Technical writing experience preferred. Proven ability to plan and execute experiments in a laboratory setting. Energetic and self-motivated individual able to work in a dynamic team environment with an eagerness to learn, adopt, and develop new methods. Excellent communication, both oral and written. Strong intellectual curiosity. Ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects. Strong organizational skills.
Physical Requirements
Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
Walking: Moving about on foot toaccomplishtasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.
Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size,
shape,temperatureor
texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideasby means ofthe spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make thediscriminations insound.
Repetitive motion: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or finger, picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of forcefrequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
