Responsibilities
- Patrol facilities and properties on foot or by vehicle, protecting persons, property and information and reporting hazards and unusual or suspicious circumstances to police.
- Patrol properties against potential loss/damage from theft, trespassing, fire, vandalism, or other hazards, using a guard tour system.
- Screen visitors and employees entering facilities or meetings using x-ray machines and walk-through/hand-held detectors.
- Monitor integrated access control, fire alarm systems, and Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) systems.
- Process employee identification badges and manage access control for multiple Broward County buildings.
- Operate an integrated security access control and intrusion detection system.
- Complete security logs and event reports with accuracy.
- Possess knowledge of computer operating systems and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Escort visitors and employees into, throughout, and out of facilities and properties.
- Perform critical functions during emergency situations and investigate non-emergency and emergency situations to determine cause of the incident.
- Multitask in a diverse, fast-paced environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
General Description
Performs security work in safeguarding County installations and operations. Works under close to general supervision according to set procedures, but determines how or when to complete tasks.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires one (1) year of security experience or closely related experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses Required
- Possess and maintain a valid Florida Class E Driver's License based on area of assignment.
- Possess and maintain a valid Security Guard License - Florida.
Preferences
- Completion of a recognized program in vocational training for the security or safety field
- At least two (2) years of experience using monitored integrated access control and Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) systems
- Completion of a certified Crowd Control course or program
- Completion of a certified Crisis Intervention training course or program
- Completion of a certified Security Investigation course
- At least two (2) years of experience using security screening equipment (x-ray scanner, magnetometer, and hand-held wand metal detector)

Physical Demands
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. The position involves sedentary work that may include walking or standing for periods and occasional lifting up to 10 pounds or sustaining keyboard operations.
