Overview

The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for multiple Food Service Lead positions at the Spring Creek Correctional Center (SCCC) in Seward, Alaska. The role leads prisoner kitchen workers in the preparation and production of meals for approximately 550 prisoners and 30 staff per meal in the main kitchen, while ensuring security and control of prisoners in the absence of Correctional Officer staff. Responsibilities

Lead prisoner kitchen workers in the preparation and production of meals for prisoners and staff. Ensure meat pulls align with the prepared menu; oversee actual preparation and serving of food to inmates and staff. Ensure all modified diets are properly prepared for each meal (vegetarian, diabetic, allergy, disruptive inmate diets, religious diets, and other diets as prescribed by Medical Department). Oversee the proper baking and preparation of breads and pastry items (e.g., buns, breads, cakes, pies, cookies, puddings, breakfast pastries). Qualifications

Food Service: Knowledge of preparing and serving food for consumption. Food Production: Knowledge of planning, growing, and harvesting of food for consumption using appropriate equipment and techniques. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work with others, show friendliness and tact, and relate well to people from varied backgrounds. Working Environment

The institution has a capacity of over 500 male inmates and employs approximately 200 staff. This position will be located in one of the three institutional kitchens. Benefits
