Pay Range:

$32.00 - $52.08 per hour Rush salaries are determined by many factors including, but not limited to, education, job-related experience and skills, as well as internal equity and industry specific market data. The pay range for each role reflects Rush's anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position. Offers may vary depending on the circumstances of each case.

Summary: Job Summary: Manages all aspects of the Circulation Department staff and workflows, as outlined below. Maintains qualified superuser status in the integrated library system, interlibrary loan software, MS Teams, Drupal website editing, e-reserves system, and reference guide/ticketing/chat system in collaboration with Electronic Resources Librarian. Provides general biomedical reference service for Rush University Medical Center students, faculty, clinicians, and staff. Assists with Interlibrary loan as assigned or as needed. Provides back up for other library departments, especially including duties in Cataloging and Collection Development as outlined below. Participates in Library quality improvement projects.

Other information: Required Job Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree or equivalent. • Minimum of 2 years' experience in an academic or special library setting. • Excellent customer service and communication skills. • Ability to create a welcoming environment for library users. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). • Familiarity with library and medical databases. • Understanding of Library of Congress and National Library of Medicine classification systems. • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Preferred Job Qualifications: • LTA certification or equivalent education. • 3+ years of access services experience in a health sciences library. • 1+ year of supervisory experience.

Physical Demands:

Selected candidate must have the mental and physical capability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. Limited physical effort required; light lifting of less than 20 lbs. Job requires ability to routinely bend, reach above the shelves above the head and at ground level, and navigate stairs and other routine library functions.

Responsibilities: Job Responsibilities: Circulation/Resource Sharing: • Provide vision and leadership for the planning, delivery, and ongoing assessment of circulation and access services, in order to anticipate and meet the needs of the university community in a rapidly changing environment. • Creates and oversees desk coverage schedule. • Trains new hires on daily workflows and in-depth knowledge of systems where necessary. • Monitors and addresses issues in all fulfillment workflows in the Integrated Library System (ILS). • Manages and troubleshoots departmental processing of incoming and outgoing ILDS material in a timely manner. • Collaborates with Electronic Resources Librarian on patron data management and configuration settings in ILS, and to troubleshoot online journal/ebook access issues & subscription changes. • Assists with Interlibrary Loan Department processing during periods of heavy request volume and/or when staff are out of the office. • Keeps statistics for the interlibrary loan monthly report / annual reports. • Maintains current record of subscribed journals in DOCLINE and recommends high-denial journals for collection development per copyright guidelines.

Staff Leadership and Development: • Supervise circulation staff, providing regular feedback, coaching, and performance evaluations. • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members. • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture focused on service excellence. • Develop staff schedules and ensure adequate coverage for all service points. • Support professional development and growth opportunities for team members.

Course Reserves: • Collaborates with faculty to create LMS-integrated reading lists from Library subscriptions in E-Reserves system, including collaboration with faculty and CTEI on library integration for courses and communities. • Provides support for the E-Res system, including organization and activation of course pages, technical issues with users regarding access of materials, communication with faculty, and publicity.

Reference Responsibilities: • Provides ready reference services to the Library's patrons onsite and via remote requests, including triage service for incoming Chats services during designated hours including some weekends and evenings. • Assists Reference Librarians with class preparation and basic search needs. • Creates, edits, or supports web-based guides (ex. LibGuides), websites, library signage, and other pieces of library communication/information either independently or as part of a team.

Additional Responsibilities: • Maintains superuser status in MS Teams for departmental support. • Maintains Drupal editor status for RUSH University website pages as needed. • Other duties as assigned.
