Part-Time Administrative Assistant For Geoenv Program

The Meteorology Department and Professor Greg Jenkins are seeking a person who will serve as a part-time administrative assistant for the NSF-funded GEOENV program. This program connects undergraduates and high school students at Penn State University campuses (University Park, Penn State Harrisburg, Penn State Schuykill) and Medgar Evers College with a research mentor during the academic year. Students present a final research project at a symposium in April. The assistant will work with the PI and CO-PI of the grant to ensure that program objects and goals are achieved. Responsibilities include: Maintaining contact and host meetings and assist undergraduate and high school students supported by GEOENV; Ensure that undergraduate students complete their certification for working with minors; Coordination with EnvironMentor's program coordinator; Assisting with stipend payments to students in collaboration with the Meteorology Department; Assist the EnvironMentors program coordinator with communications of events and dates with GEOENV recipients; Providing support for the teachers' workshop and final symposium; Assisting with the final report to NSF; Required skills include good written and oral communication skills; use of Microsoft office products; ability to work with a broad range of participants (high school students/teachers, undergraduate students, PSU faculty). Compensation: $15.00/hr Approximately 10 hours per week. Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
