Handle a high-volume caseload of up to 50 matters per month, including defense of claims, case strategy, and resolution management Provide practical legal advice and risk assessments to business leaders, HR, and claims professionals on workers’ compensation issues Oversee outside counsel and coordinate litigation strategy to ensure consistent and cost-effective results Draft and review settlement agreements, pleadings, and related documents Represent the company at hearings, depositions, and mediations as needed Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align legal strategies with business objectives Maintain up-to-date knowledge of workers’ compensation statutes, regulations, and case law Qualifications
JD and active bar license in good standing in Illinois Minimum 8 years of experience in workers’ compensation law, ideally with both litigation and advisory exposure Must have Illinois-based workers' compensation defense experience Proven ability to manage a heavy caseload with efficiency and accuracy Strong executive presence with excellent communication skills and the ability to present clearly to senior leadership Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment under pressure and balance legal risks with business goals Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across teams
