Position Summary
As a Process Engineer at Nefab, you will lead initiatives that improve productivity, efficiency, quality, and sustainability across our manufacturing operations in the sub-region. You will manage the rollout of new products, develop standardized and innovative processes, and champion continuous improvement programs at all sites within your region (travel up to 25% of the year).
This role requires the ability to drive impactful improvements in a custom, high-mix, low-volume ("job shop") manufacturing environment, where agility, collaboration, and innovation are essential.
The Process Engineer will align closely with Group Operations (Nefab AB in Sweden) and the Vice President of Operations for the Americas to ensure consistency with global and regional strategic directives. While alignment with these functions is critical, the Process Engineer is ultimately responsible for the successful implementation of process improvements that directly enhance profitability and operational performance within the sub-region.
Key Responsibilities
New Product & Process Implementation
Lead the launch of new products into manufacturing operations across multiple sites.
Develop and implement efficient, scalable production processes.
Research and propose new equipment, tools, or technologies to improve performance.
Process Development & Standardization
Develop and maintain manufacturing standards, including:
Costing standards
Pallet, packaging, nailing, and gluing standards
Support the product design team in ensuring designs are optimized for manufacturability. Product design
Document and optimize procedures to support scalability and operational excellence.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
Identify, lead, and sustain improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
Support innovation efforts across the Operations community to drive performance and sustainability goals.
Coordinate new equipment implementation projects, including layout planning, process updates, and development of supporting procedures.
Support digitalization initiatives within operations.
Act as a cross-functional liaison between operations functional groups.
Compliance & Quality
Ensure adherence to applicable local and regional regulations.
Maintain compliance with
ISO 9001
and
ISO 14001
standards. Support internal audits and process documentation requirements.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field). 3+ years of experience in a process engineering role, preferably within a job shop, custom manufacturing, or high-mix, low-volume environment. Strong project management and change management skills. PMP certification would be considered an asset. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or Six Sigma principles. Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration abilities. Proficiency in ERP systems and manufacturing documentation tools.
Preferred Skills Experience with life cycle analysis and sustainability-focused process improvements. Experience programming and operating CNCs, water jet or laser cutting equipment. Background in packaging, woodworking, plastics, or multi-material manufacturing. Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar design tools. Understanding of ergonomic and safety standards in manufacturing environments. Proficient in conducting time studies and data-gathering exercises; able to analyze findings and draw actionable conclusions.
