Purchasing Manager

Overview The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing all procurement functions across the organization to ensure an efficient, cost-effective, and reliable supply of goods and services. This role blends day-to-day purchasing execution with long-term strategic planning, including sourcing, contract management, supplier relationships, and performance tracking. By leveraging ERP and WMS systems, the Purchasing Manager drives improvements in cost control, supplier reliability, inventory optimization, and compliance, while supporting the company’s sustainability and growth initiatives.
Core Responsibilities Develop and implement sourcing strategies to improve supplier cost, quality, delivery, and sustainability. Lead negotiations and manage supplier contracts in line with company policies and industry requirements. Monitor vendor performance, conducting reviews and corrective actions as needed. Use ERP/WMS platforms to analyze purchasing data, forecast demand, and track inventory trends. Build and maintain vendor partnerships while identifying new suppliers to diversify and strengthen the supply base. Approve requisitions and purchase orders; coordinate with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice discrepancies. Track inventory metrics such as turns, fill rate, and backorder levels to ensure product availability and efficiency. Work closely with Sales, Finance, and Operations to align purchasing strategies with overall business objectives. Create KPI dashboards and reports for executive leadership highlighting cost savings and performance. Support corporate ESG goals by onboarding diverse and sustainable suppliers. Identify opportunities for automation, cost reduction, and process improvements within purchasing operations. Provide leadership, coaching, and development to purchasing team members. Perform other related duties as required.
Skills & Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to apply KPIs to process improvements. Advanced negotiation and supplier management expertise. Proficiency with ERP systems (CloudSuite), WMS (TWL), and advanced Excel/data analytics. Excellent leadership, decision-making, organizational, and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to drive measurable cost savings and enhance supplier performance. Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence across multiple departments. Knowledge of procurement compliance, supplier diversity, and sustainability best practices.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related discipline required; Master’s degree or certifications (CPSM, CSCP) preferred. 7+ years of procurement experience in manufacturing, distribution, or energy industries. 5+ years of management experience leading purchasing teams. Proven track record in cost optimization, supplier development, and KPI-driven procurement strategies.
