Overview: We are seeking highly skilled

Research and Development (R&D)

to join our team at Quality Bakery Products. Concentrating in the areas: Fully baked, icings, glazes, toppings, batters and emulsions.

Duties and Responsibilities • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and company quality standards. • Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality Assurance (QA), Production, Maintenance, and Sanitation teams to facilitate product commercialization. • Develop and refine formulations based on customer requirements and manufacturing capabilities, including designing new or improved recipes, creating prototypes, and verifying performance in production. • Execute product development projects, including formulation, bench-top testing, sensory evaluation, and thorough documentation of all testing and results. • Provide technical support to manufacturing operations, troubleshooting product and process issues to identify and implement solutions. • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of formulas and specifications at all stages of development. • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely execution and successful delivery. • Oversee R&D ingredient inventory, ensuring proper stock levels for product development needs. • Participate in plant trials, offering technical expertise during the scale-up process. • Organize and maintain an efficient R&D lab schedule, meeting deadlines effectively. • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment, preventing contamination and foreign material risks. • Conduct measurements, testing, baking trials, and product analyses to validate new product performance. • Develop multiple prototypes that align with written concepts, production feasibility, and quality expectations. • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to evaluate and approve ingredients for production, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. • Assist in the formulation of custom recipes, reformulations, and product innovations, including participation in product cuttings and evaluations. • Document working specifications for all new product developments. • Support additional projects as needed.

Qualifications & Skills: Strong background in food science or industry trained, with proven experience in product development and innovation. Experience in food manufacturing, product development, or R&D, preferably in bakery, or related industries. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot formulation and processing issues. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety regulations, and quality control standards. Excellent attention to detail and ability to document formulations and test results accurately. Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate cross-functionally with production, QA, and operations teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with formulation software is a plus. Ability to adapt to new challenges, think creatively, and contribute to product innovation.
