We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing & Planning Manager
to join our team at a leading food & beverage manufacturing company. This role is responsible for ensuring the timely procurement and availability of raw materials, packaging, and other components required for production. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of supply chain processes, vendor relations, and production planning in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain material requirements planning (MRP) based on production schedules and forecasts.
Purchase raw materials, ingredients, packaging, and indirect goods from approved suppliers to meet production needs.
Monitor inventory levels and lead times to ensure optimal stock levels and avoid shortages or excess.
Collaborate with production, quality assurance, and warehouse teams to align material availability with production requirements.
Communicate and negotiate with suppliers regarding pricing, lead times, order changes, and delivery schedules.
Analyze usage trends and adjust procurement strategies accordingly.
Maintain accurate records in ERP/MRP systems, including purchase orders, inventory transactions, and supplier data.
Identify and implement cost-saving and supply chain optimization opportunities.
Ensure all materials meet food safety, quality, and regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, SQF, GFSI).
Participate in supplier evaluations and support audits as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
3+ years of experience in material planning or procurement
Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.
Strong knowledge of MRP principles, inventory control, and procurement processes.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
Understanding of food safety and quality regulations is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
APICS/CPIM, CSCP, or other supply chain certifications.
Experience with Just-in-Time (JIT), Lean Manufacturing, or similar methodologies.
Knowledge of sustainable sourcing practices and vendor risk management.
