Salary Range: $70,000 - $78,000
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Controller, the Accountant will support Project Renewal’s Workforce Development and City Beet departments need with financial reporting analyses and associated journal entries, issuance of key performance indicators and overseeing the budget performance of a portfolio of grants, while maintaining a high data quality standard.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
With a specific focus on Project Renewal’s Workforce Development (WFD) & City Beet departments, the Accountant will:

Collaborate with WFD to develop the contract budgets and will oversee monitoring and reporting on the same throughout the budget year.

Prepare budget vs. actual variance reports, providing follow-up and documentation for variances.

Perform month-end accounting close functions, including journal entries, reconciliations, and analysis.

Prepare monthly closing entries and requests for reimbursement.

Assist the Grants & Contracts team with Budget modification as needed.

Prepare and analyze monthly City Beet’s financial reports to track profitability on both a monthly and year-to-date basis.

Organize and present key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics, highlighting critical ratios such as food, labor, and logistics costs.

Apply knowledge of accrual accounting to reconcile differences between ledger balances and actual monthly activity (e.g., payroll cutoffs, invoices not entered into accounting software).

Perform high-level reconciliation of accounts receivable aging, summarizing data from Sage Intacct into management-ready reporting packets, while identifying potential bad debt and write-offs.

Collaborate with program teams to explain financial variances, analyze trends, and provide clear insights.

Prepare schedules for all audits.

Reconcile balance sheet accounts

Assist with Treasury management.

Provide cross-functional backup to other accounting and management functions as needed.

Undertakes special projects as assigned.

Working knowledge of accounting software, preferably Sage Intacct and Coupa.

Knowledge of Match/Leveraged Funding and Cost/Performance based grants preferred.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree is required, with a focus on general accounting is preferred.

4 years or more experience in general ledger accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis.

Experience with non-profit organizations is preferred.

Environment required, knowledge of Microsoft Office applications a must, knowledge of Intacct accounting software is a plus.
