Vice President of Aviation (Established Construction Company) Base pay range: $150,000.00/yr - $225,000.00/yr

This Jobot job posting describes a senior leadership role for an established mid-sized construction company seeking a Vice President of Aviation to guide aviation infrastructure initiatives and strategic growth.

Overview This is a leadership role within a long-established general contractor operating since the early 1900s. The Vice President of Aviation will shape and lead an aviation infrastructure practice, contribute to large-scale regional projects, and drive safety, quality, and client relationships.

Responsibilities

Influence and lead aviation infrastructure initiatives, expanding or optimizing aviation-related offerings for large-scale regional projects.

Shape strategy, build teams, and guide execution across aviation projects (airfields, runway systems, lighting, navigational aids, power and electrical systems, airfield paving, etc.).

Collaborate with engineering, construction operations, estimating, safety, regulatory compliance, and client relations; participate as part of the executive leadership team.

Support resource allocation, market development, and strategic planning in the aviation sector.

Ensure safety culture, quality control, and continuous improvement across projects.

Travel to project sites, airports, and client meetings as needed (regionally or nationally).

Present to executive leadership, boards, regulatory agencies, and external stakeholders as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aviation/Aeronautical Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline. Master’s degree or advanced management training is a plus.

10-15+ years of experience in infrastructure/aviation construction, including leading aviation-specific projects (airport runways, lighting systems, airfield electrical, navigational aids, etc.).

Demonstrated success in senior leadership roles managing diverse teams, multiple projects, P&L accountability, staffing, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.

Deep knowledge of airport regulations, FAA standards, NFPA, ICAO (if applicable), lighting, signage, airfield safety, and aviation electrical/communications systems.

Experience with bidding, estimating, procurement, and contract negotiation for aviation/airport projects.

Strong understanding of construction methods, site utilities, environmental compliance, and civil/structural/A&E coordination.

Financial acumen including cost forecasting, profitability management, and change order management.

Ability to build relationships with airports, government agencies, consultants, regulators, and other stakeholders; strong leadership and strategic thinking.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to executive leadership and external stakeholders.

Willingness to travel to project sites, airports, and client meetings as needed.

Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain safety credentials/clearances for aviation sites.
