The state supported living centers serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or who have behavioral problems. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Behavioral Health Services, Clerk I will be responsible for entry-level

clerical work in areas such as data entry, file maintenance, assistance with document request, attending meetings for completing minutes for the various committees within the department.

This position will work Monday-Friday, with the shift being 8 AM - 5 PM. Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours.

Essential Job Functions (EJFs):

Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.

Produces and proofs correspondence, reports, logs, document requests, and other related forms.

Attends departmental meetings/committees to serve as a scribe.

Answers inquiries regarding policies and procedures, assists the Director of Behavioral Health Services with various clerical duties.

Posts information to agency records and modifies forms or records.

Assembles, organizes, and tabulates data.

Files and maintains supplies, forms, records, and reports.

May perform data entry and retrieval.

Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of office procedures and of spelling, grammar, punctuation, and arithmetic.

Skill in the use of a computer and office equipment.

Proficiency in MS Office with expertise in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Ability to prepare and maintain records, files, and reports.

Ability to communicate with others effectively, both orally and written form.

Knowledge of the facility Operating Procedures Manual (OPM).

General knowledge of ICF/IID standards.

Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.

Initial Screening Criteria:

Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent.

Two (2) years of experience in a clerical setting.

Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in clerical or administrative duties.

Additional Information:

Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aide, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct and HHS List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).

Males between the ages of 18 - 25 must be registered with the Selective Service.

All State Supported Living Center Employees are subject to Random Drug Testing.

Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
