The Opportunity CJE SeniorLife recently developed an IT Strategic Plan and Roadmap to modernize our technology infrastructure, strengthen IT governance, and transform how we utilize technology to support our mission. We are seeking a Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead the execution of this plan, maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of day-to-day IT operations, and enable adoption of emerging technologies to enhance our ability to serve the community. The CIO will report directly to the President & CEO and will be a key member of the executive leadership team. This role is ideal for a forward-thinking, mission-driven leader who thrives at the intersection of technology, innovation, and hands-on execution. This is a hybrid role in Chicago and requires onsite work at a CJE facility a minimum of 3 days per week. Scope of Role The CIO will: Lead IT Planning & Execution
– Short- and long-term technology strategy and its implementation. Oversee all Technical Operations
– Infrastructure/hardware, cybersecurity, software solutions, data analytics, AI applications, systems integration, vendor management, and technology governance. Provide Technology Leadership
– Change management, cross-department collaboration, and developing a high-performing IT team. Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership & Innovation
Lead the implementation of the IT Strategic Plan, ensuring alignment with CJE's mission and organizational priorities. Oversee modernization of IT processes, governance, and legacy systems. Create and maintain a roadmap for evaluating and adopting emerging technologies (AI, advanced analytics, digital engagement tools) to maximize overall efficiency of agency operations. Build and/or review business cases to ensure investments are aligned to value and effort. Operational Excellence
Direct all aspects of IT operations, ensuring reliability, security, and scalability. Oversee vendor selection, contract negotiation, and relationship management. Develop and guide efforts to streamline operations to achieve overall cost savings for technology infrastructure and support. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, PHI, and other regulatory requirements. Collaboration & Governance
Partner with the CEO, board members, and departmental leaders to align technology initiatives with organizational needs. Provide regular progress updates to the board and executive team, translating complex technical issues into clear, actionable insights. Promote a culture of service, accountability, and innovation across the IT team. People & Change Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop IT staff to enhance skills, performance, and engagement. Champion change management initiatives that help the organization adapt to new systems and processes. Key Competencies
Technical
– Cloud migration, cybersecurity, EMR/EHR systems, data governance, systems integration, Salesforce, IT in eldercare/social services (preferred, but not required). Strategic
– Aligning technology with mission, prioritizing high-impact projects, balancing innovation with cost efficiency. Leadership
– People management, cross-functional influence, vendor negotiations. Qualifications
Experience : 15+ years of IT leadership, with at least 5 years in a senior/executive role. Proven track record implementing enterprise-level technology strategies. Nonprofit and/or healthcare experience preferred. Strong understanding of HIPAA, PHI, and other compliance requirements. Soft Skills : Mission alignment and empathy.
