Job Summary:
The Produce Clerk is responsible for ensuring fresh, high-quality fruits and vegetables are well-stocked, attractively displayed, and properly maintained. This role includes unloading deliveries, rotating stock, trimming and watering produce, and helping customers with questions and product selection. This position will include nights, weekends, and holidays.
Key Responsibilities: Stock, rotate, and merchandise fresh produce to meet store standards. Inspect, cull, and trim produce to maintain quality and freshness. Ensure displays are clean, organized, and visually appealing. Assist in unloading produce deliveries and organizing backroom coolers. Monitor product dates and remove expired or damaged items. Maintain knowledge of current produce varieties, pricing, and promotions. Water and mist produce as needed to maintain freshness. Provide helpful, friendly customer service and answer product-related questions. Follow proper food handling and safety guidelines. Keep work area, tools, and equipment clean and sanitized. Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Prior produce or grocery experience is a plus, but not required. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work in cold environments (coolers, wet produce areas). Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Good communication and customer service skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays. Working Conditions:
Regularly works in refrigerated areas and with wet or slippery floors. Requires standing, bending, and lifting throughout shift. Fast-paced retail environment with customer interaction.
