Job Summary
JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the District Superintendent or designee, performs a variety of highly responsible and confidential secretarial and administrative support services for the Superintendent and the Board of Trustees; and performs related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS Education: Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree from an accredited college or university is required. Experience: Five years experience working in an educational organization with at least one year in a lead supervisory capacity preferred. Knowledge and Abilities: 1.Knowledge of office practices and procedures, with specific understanding of district policies, Superintendent's Office, and Board of Education operations. 2. Ability to plan, organize, train, and direct staff. 3. Knowledge of school district clerical functions, methods, and techniques; ability to support the operational objectives of the Superintendent and Board of Trustees with discretion and confidentiality. 4. Proficient in modern office practices and equipment (computers, software applications, transcription equipment, copiers, calculators, duplicating machines, etc.). 5. Strong command of English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation, legal mandates, Board policies, and communication procedures. 6. Ability to prepare professional-quality reports, correspondence, surveys, legal documents, and statistical data; accurately perform mathematical computations. 7. Ability to take and transcribe dictation, notes, and Board minutes with accuracy and confidentiality. 8. Skilled in coordinating and scheduling clerical functions, Board meetings, and administrative activities. 9. Ability to exercise independent judgment, make sound decisions within scope of authority, and perform highly responsible secretarial functions. 10. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operator's license. Fingerprint clearance by the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter, as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act.
