Job Overview The Molecular Technologist II plays a pivotal role in the

laboratory testing

process. This position requires an individual with exceptional attention to detail, effective communication skills, and multitasking abilities. Key Responsibilities Process patient samples using molecular biology protocols governed by standard operating procedures. Extract nucleic acids from various sample types. Construct DNA/RNA libraries and next-generation sequencing (NGS). Operate liquid handling robots. Analyze and problem-solve moderate sample and/or plate issues. Review patient and control data, and document according to laboratory quality procedures. Maintain sufficient inventory of laboratory supplies. Contribute to training efforts and provide training materials. Perform daily maintenance and monitor laboratory equipment. Troubleshoot instrumentation issues and recover automated processes. Assist with SOP development and upkeep. Document activities and results in laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and worksheets. Perform environmental health and safety functions as needed. Respond to temperature alarm systems to ensure specimen and reagent integrity. Integrate feedback in a professional manner. Prioritize and drive results with a high emphasis on quality. Work collaboratively as part of a team. Maintain open communication with internal employees, managers, and customers. Achieve a high level of attention to detail with strong quality orientation. Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork. Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures. Maintain regular and reliable attendance. Ability to work nights or weekends as needed. Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen for approximately 20% of a typical working day. Ability to work seated for approximately 20% of a typical working day. Ability to work standing for approximately 80% of a typical working day. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds for approximately 5% of a typical working day. Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements. May perform repetitious actions using lab tools including pipettes. Ability to use various chemicals to perform duties. Ability to use a computer, concentrate, and read and/or analyze data. May be exposed to hazardous materials and instruments with moving parts, heating and freezing elements, and high-speed centrifugation. Ability to use various types of laboratory equipment including next-generation sequencing instruments, liquid handling robotics, and biosafety cabinets.
