Overview
Journeyman Electrician - Rate of Pay $47.22/hr.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
- Troubleshoot/diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
- Must be experienced working with low, medium and high voltages. Troubleshooting and testing of 440v and 2300v breakers and motor starter circuits.
- Must be able to read and work from schematics and prints.
- Candidate must have working knowledge of the National Electrical Code; Must have strong understanding of safe electrical practices.
- Must be able to climb ladders and work from elevated equipment.
- Applicant must be able to properly install conduit and wire. Experience with PLCs preferred.
All new Journeyman Electricians must be able to qualify for a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).
Qualifications
- Completion of a formal apprentice program or an equivalent number of years of education and/or experience.
- Must be able to read and work from schematics and prints.
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code; strong understanding of safe electrical practices.
- Ability to climb ladders and work from elevated equipment.
- Experience with PLCs preferred.
- Must be able to install conduit and wire.
