Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences As a lifeguard, the primary responsibility is to provide and maintain a safe swim environment for program participants. Additional responsibilities include assisting with daily operational needs of the swimming program, student scheduling, locker room supervision, and related cleanup. Schedule Monday through Wednesday: 6:15 a.m. 8:00 a.m. Monday through Friday: 8:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m.
Essential Job Functions
Conducts swimming lessons for patrons Assists the Pool Manager in the operation of a swimming pool facility Coaches water sports Ensures adherence to water safety rules and practices, responds to participants in danger by performing water rescues and administering first aid; and performs other related duties as assigned Must maintain valid Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification or equivalent

Handling Stress - Maintaining emotional stability and self-control under pressure, challenge, or adversity. Presentation Skill - Formally delivering information to groups. Relationship Building - Establishing rapport and maintaining mutually productive relationships. Environmental Exposure Tolerance - Performing under physically demanding conditions. Must have the ability to swim 500 yards in 10 minutes, 30 seconds. Must be able to assist in removing a victim from the water using a backboard. Must be able to tread water for 2 minutes without use of arms.
