Sanitation Associate - Day Shift

at North Star Seafood, LLC This position is responsible for general custodial care of the facility and sanitation activities of the warehouse under general supervision. Performs all duties safely, accurately, and meets all set productivity goals. Responsibilities Perform all custodial duties throughout the facility including dusting, sweeping, washing, wiping, scrubbing, shoveling, and mopping. Often required to climb ladders to perform these duties. Maintain sanitary conditions in the facility, including collection and disposal of trash or debris daily and cleanup of spills. Clean coolers and cooler floors; sweep and mop floors in the dry warehouse, aisles, and equipment mezzanine including slot cleaning. Scrub floors in aisle areas of the dry warehouse, cooler areas, and docks. Preserve floor care using power equipment in assigned areas. Maintain parking lots and front sidewalks as needed to maintain appearance. Remove trash or other damaging elements (e.g., nails and glass). Complete daily sanitation log to document sanitation activities. Support the stretch wrap and cardboard recycling program, including transporting materials to balers, baling, tying materials, and placing tied bales onto pallets for shipment. Dust and vacuum warehouse racks; remove cobwebs to maintain sanitary conditions. Clean restrooms as needed to maintain sanitary conditions, including urinals, toilets, sinks, counters, mirrors, floors, and restocking supplies. Work with supervisor to minimize warehouse shrink (product loss). Maintain neatness and cleanliness of assigned work areas and travel aisles; ensure accuracy of warehouse product locations during slot cleaning. Report unsafe or unfixable issues to the supervisor immediately; observe and enforce all safety rules. Operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts and pallet jacks) safely; ensure equipment is maintained and report repair needs. Understand and comply with all applicable company policies, and comply with relevant State/Federal laws and regulations (e.g., OSHA, HACCP, AIB).

Qualifications Education

High school diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

1 year of warehouse-related experience and/or training.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age. Must work independently with minimal supervision and have strong attention to detail.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Read and write simple correspondence; speak effectively with co-workers and in small group settings.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to perform basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, and divide) in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and handle standardized situations with occasional variables.

Work Environment

The work environment is a warehouse setting with potential exposure to fast-moving equipment, freezer/cooler environments, and varying conditions. This is a full-time position with a varying schedule that may include days, nights, weekends, and some holidays. Work hours may vary based on departmental requirements. Tools and equipment may include forklifts and pallet jacks; environment may include cold storage areas and loud noise levels.
