Journeyman Hvac Technician

Valley County is seeking a skilled and experienced Journeyman HVAC Technician to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems within county-owned facilities. This is a full-time position with full employee benefits. As a Journeyman HVAC/R Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems. You will work on various types of equipment, including boilers, chillers, furnaces, air handlers, and refrigeration units. Responsibilities would include performing routine and preventative maintenance on all HVAC/R equipment, diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues in a timely manner, repairing or replacing defective components, including compressors, motors, fans, and thermostats, installing new HVAC/R systems and equipment in accordance with safety standards and building codes, maintaining accurate records of all work performed, including parts used and hours spent, responding to emergency service calls after hours as needed, ensuring all work is completed in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and collaborating with other maintenance staff and contractors to complete projects. Anyone interested in applying should be currently licensed as a Journeyman HVAC Technician with the State of Idaho, and have at least four years of professional HVAC experience. Previous work experience in commercial or industrial environments in desired but not required. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of HVAC/R theory, principles, and practices and be adept at diagnosing and repairing a variety of systems, including their electrical and mechanical components. Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals is essential, as is familiarity with building automation systems (BAS). The role requires a person who possesses strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively. Applicants must also be physically capable of performing the duties of the job, which includes lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.), climbing ladders, and working in diverse conditions and tight spaces.
