Climbs poles; replaces damaged or worn overhead wire and cable crossarms and related hardware; installs multiple conductor cables; rods ducts. Paints and stencils crossarms, fuses, fuse boxes; assembles porcelain fuse blocks. Sends and receives signals over fire alarm system to test lines. Prepares simple reports of work done. Basic computer skills. Ability to climb poles and to work in small and confined areas, i.e. underground. Knowledge of specialized tools and equipment for cables. Ability to read and write. Must have at least two (2) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, paid experience in maintenance and repair of power, lighting, communications, and signals. Must have a valid Massachusetts Driver's License. Must be a resident of the city of Boston. Electrical experience is preferred. A high school diploma or GED to substitute for one year of experience.
