Job Title: School Crossing Guard
The City of Murphy Police Department seeks to add a School Crossing Guard to its dynamic team! As our School Crossing Guard, under supervision of the Patrol Commander/Operations Manager, you will provide traffic control, both pedestrian and vehicular, for designated crosswalks during school traffic hours. Immediate openings are available at: Boggess Elementary School Hunt Elementary School The City of Murphy may modify, withdraw, or close any job posting at any time without prior notice. This includes removing a position from consideration once a sufficient number of qualified applicants have been received or if business needs change. Assists children in crossing the street during peak school traffic hours at designated school zone areas Regulates vehicular traffic at designated crosswalks in such a manner that safety of school age children will be significantly enhanced when using these crosswalks Establishes rapport with children using crosswalks to enlist their support of safety efforts Employs proper signals and other paraphernalia designed to assist in control of traffic Oversees children to ensure they walk in designated crossing areas Reports any malfunction of school signals to the Patrol Commander or the Administrative Assistant to the Police Chief Directs all inquiries, complaints and concerns of the general public to the Patrol Commander or to the Administrative Assistant to the Police Chief Maintains a positive friendly and effective working relationship with the general public and co-workers Reports any unsafe, hazardous, or perilous conditions to the Administrative Assistant to the Police Chief Adheres to the personnel, safety and departmental policies and procedures Typical Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS Experience working with children (i.e.: day camp, church camp, public recreation, day care, etc.) This position is part time and is not benefit eligible.
