The medical insurance verification clerk verifies and accurately enters patients insurance coverage information. Responsibilities include contacting private insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid to verify and obtain information about insurance benefits. The role also includes updating and re-filing patients claims, re-verifying current insurance, and determining whether a patients insurance benefit plan covers all needed services. Experience in a hospital or clinic setting verifying insurance for pre-admission, admission, day surgeries, and specified procedures. The ideal candidate should be well-versed in the complex medical insurance industry. Qualifications
Education
High school graduate or equivalent. Required Experience
1-3+ years of medical insurance verification experience. Strong PC skills. Knowledge of managed care products is ideal. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal). Longevity in past roles. Team player with the ability to communicate with staff, patients, and physicians. Knowledge of medical insurance terminology, medical benefits, and billing processes. Experience with patient assistance and government programs. Ability to work independently, pay attention to detail, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks without losing concentration. What We Offer
