Maintenance Mechanic
The Maintenance Worker position performs preventive and corrective maintenance in the plant under management supervision. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Assists in the installation of new equipment. Assists the Maintenance Supervisor and/or other personnel on special fabrication and construction projects. Follows preventative maintenance schedule. Trains Level 1 and 2 Maintenance personnel. Troubleshoots and repairs process machinery and hydraulic equipment. Changes electrical breakers and electrical starters; operates voltage, amp, and ohm meters. Maintains clean, neat and orderly work area at all times. Responsible for using assigned safety equipment including a bump cap, safety glasses or goggles, welding protection, and a safety harness; responsible for being familiar with and observing all Company safety rules and regulations. Attends regularly scheduled safety meetings and may be asked to serve on Safety Committee. All other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 6 years' experience with rendering or other similar equipment. Advanced welding, piping and fabrication skills a must. Preferred Qualifications: Vocational school training preferred. Basic knowledge of general maintenance and equipment operations. General mechanical aptitude; able to diagnosis problems with motors and other equipment. Good math skills; add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Must pass skills test on 480V combination starter/breaker box and control voltage for combination box. Demonstrated advance welding skills. Climb or balance: Must be able to ascend/descend on a ladder. Talk, hear, taste, smell: Must be able to use senses to; effectively communicate with co-workers and clients and detect hazardous conditions.
