Summary of Job Responsibilities:
The Southcentral Foundation (SCF) Optometrist is responsible for providing direct optometric services to customer-owners in support of the overall objectives of the Optometry program.
Qualifications:
Degree in optometry required.
Current Alaska license to practice optometry including diagnostic and therapeutic pharmaceutical endorsement.
Meets all requirements for medical staff membership and privileges.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Additional Considerations:
SCF programs primarily serve Alaska Native people affiliated with Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI), and other Alaska Native and American Indian populations within SCF’s area. Knowledge of these cultures and needs is essential.
Native Preference policy applies under P.L. 93-638, as amended. Certification from SCF Human Resources is required for preference eligibility.
Employee health screening and immunizations are mandatory before employment, including MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Influenza, T-dap, and COVID-19, especially for HCP-designated roles.
