Inspector Working at our Vandalia Facilities

Our Vandalia facility is located 50 minutes north of the GE Aerospace headquarters and sits just north of the city of Dayton, widely known as the birthplace of aviation. The facility has a rich history, in operation for over 100 years. At over 140,000 square feet, the Vandalia facility rests on 25 acres right off Interstate 75. At GE Aerospace in Vandalia, we specialize in manufacturing and servicing world-class power generation and electrical control and distribution equipment for a variety of military and commercial customers. Vandalia is also home to a product development lab where operators and engineers work together to invent the future of flight. Role Overview

An Inspector performs various inspection operations, reviews documentation and applied customer quality requirements for Aerospace hardware. Inspect rotors, stators and generators Inspect electrical connections for electrical, electro/mechanical, and electronic assemblies Inspect insertions, windings, and connections to all coils, transformers, armatures, exciters, inductance coils, rotors, and stators as necessary Inspect nuts, bolts, and screws Perform mechanical measurements using scales, calipers, and gauges Inspect solder, welds and braze assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components as necessary Inspect potting, coating, and cleaning of all components Review, understand, and follow routers, procedures, specifications, and other instructions for completeness to perform operation Inspect electrical harness assemblies and other types of controllers Inspect coated assemblies with various solutions per specifications Keep all machinery, tools, and work areas clean Apply basic math calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of fractions, decimals, and whole numbers) Maintain strong attention to detail and knowledge of production processes Demonstrate manual dexterity to perform inspection tasks in a safe and efficient manner Maintain an excellent record of attendance and punctuality Work in a team-based environment Make decisions based on experience and available data Demonstrate an ambition to excel and advance skills and knowledge Conform to all EHS guidelines including, but not limited to, wearing proper PPE Accept and give constructive criticism Successful candidate will be required to take classes in team building, environmental health and safety, and/or other on-the-job training on learn specific assignments Must obtain IPC 610 and 620 certifications onsite Must be able to use various magnification tools Must pass an eye exam and Ishihara test

The Ideal Candidate

Ability to work in a team-based environment. Maintain good attendance and punctuality. Strong attention to detail and knowledge of production processes. Ability and willingness to read and understand applicable information such as written instructions, procedures and specifications that apply to daily work operations Ability and willingness to use hand tools (pliers, wrenches, hammers, etc.)

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED 1 year of manufacturing work experience

Preferred Qualifications

1 year of experience in electronic assembly 1 year of manufacturing or mechanical work experience 1 year of prior assembly experience Ability and willingness to perform mechanical measurements using scales, calipers, and gauges Basic computer skills Ability and willingness to change tasks when asked Strong communication skills Positive attitude

Additional Information

Pay $20.03 per hour. 1st Shift 6am - 2:30pm Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds repetitively, occasionally lift up to 35 pounds non-repetitively, and sometimes lift over 35 pounds with assistance. Involves working in an area with moderate noise intensity (85 to 89.9 dBs) and areas where hearing protection is required. Involves working in an area where there may be dust, fumes, or smoke (not over OSHA permissible exposure levels). Able and willing to work in an area with dust, fumes, or smoke (not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels).
