Journeyman Electrician

As a Journeyman Electrician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems within the building. Your tasks will include wiring, installation, circuit design, fixture placement, troubleshooting electrical issues, and ensuring compliance with building codes. You will often work with complex three-phase power systems and collaborate with others.

Responsibilities:

  • Install electrical wiring, circuits, lighting fixtures, power outlets, and other electrical components according to blueprints and specifications.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical systems, including testing circuit breakers, transformers, and generators.
  • Diagnose and fix electrical faults, including malfunctioning wiring, faulty fixtures, and electrical equipment.
  • Upgrade outdated electrical systems with new technology or to meet current safety standards.
  • Ensure all electrical work adheres to local building codes and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with other tradespeople such as plumbers and HVAC technicians.
  • Maintain detailed records of work completed, including materials used and project details.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience with electrical systems, conduit, wiring, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in electrical installation, pulling wire, conduit bending, running conduit, and electrical wiring.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints.
  • Possession of a Journeyman License.
  • Commercial experience in electrical systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Ability to assist with responsibilities beyond electrician duties and support building engineers.
  • Experience in installing, repairing, and maintaining switchgear, lighting, and mechanical systems.
  • Proficient with hand tools.

Work Environment:

You will be working at a designated location in Plano, with regular work hours from 7 am to 4:30 pm. Additional work orders may require starting as early as 6 am. The company provides shirts and requires safety shoes. You will also be provided with a phone during work hours.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plano, Texas.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
