The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) is recruiting for a permanent, full-time Workplace Culture and Employee Experience Consultant (Human Resource Consultant 4) in the Human Resources Division. The position is located in Tumwater, Washington, and is not union-represented.

Position and Salary The AGO is seeking a permanent, full-time Workplace Culture and Employee Experience Consultant (HR Consultant 4). Salary Range: $75,108 – $100,980 annually. The base pay offered may vary based on internal equity and the candidate’s knowledge, skills, and experience. A 5% Dual Language Requirement Pay stipend may apply for positions requiring dual language skills.

The Opportunity The AGO’s mission is to provide excellent, independent, and ethical legal services to the State of Washington and protect the rights of its people. You will join a close-knit, collaborative team and contribute to a diverse and inclusive workplace. You will be designated as the Workplace Culture and Employee Experience Liaison for the agency and assigned as the HR Consultant to multiple divisions. You will collect and analyze data related to the AGO employee experience and provide consultation on a wide range of human resource issues in accordance with civil service rules, collective bargaining agreements, AGO policies, employment law, and ethical standards. You may participate in or lead agency-wide HR matters with broad impact across the AGO.

Join our HR team and help develop and retain our workforce while influencing workplace culture through expert consultation, services, and solutions to meet client needs.

Duties and Essential Functions Under general direction, the HR Consultant will provide knowledge and consultation regarding the cultural experience of AGO employees, candidates, and others as they engage with the office. Responsibilities include analyzing the employment lifecycle of AGO candidates and employees and identifying ways to enhance their experience using data from AGO Employment Engagement Surveys, stay interviews, and exit surveys. For assigned divisions, this position will conduct investigations and advise senior AGO leadership on corrective action, disciplinary matters, and reasonable accommodation.

Required Qualifications and Competencies

Three years of broad-based human resources experience including facilitating organizational development or change and consulting on human resource issues

A bachelor’s degree with a focus in business, human resources, social or organizational behavioral sciences, or a related field

*Professional level HR experience may substitute year for year for a bachelor’s degree.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications, Competencies, and Abilities

Data Analysis and Reporting:

Ability to analyze and manipulate large data sets, identify trends, and present actionable insights. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Consultation and Advice:

Provide direct services to managers, supervisors, and employees in assigned divisions. Advise and offer options-based advice to agency management on a full range of HR activities including organizational management, position allocation, corrective and disciplinary matters, employee performance appraisals, and reasonable accommodation.

Investigations, Corrective Action, and Disciplinary Matters:

Advise senior AGO leadership on disciplinary matters.

Reasonable Accommodation:

Work with employees and managers to explore medically-related workplace needs, communicate with health care providers and management, evaluate requests, establish the existence of a disability, and implement effective accommodations.

Training and Development and Other Duties:

Advise, develop, and/or provide training and resources regarding AGO culture and expectations for a respectful, professional workplace.

SHRM or HRCI Certification
