JOB DUTIES Work with Intermodal Business Coordinators to ensure Customer Performance is reviewed and data is accurate. Identify systemic issues, work with underlying vendors to establish solutions. Communicate opportunities for improvement with sales and customers. Manage New Customer on-boarding for operations. Coordinate with Business Support Group to administer on-boarding of new customers and/or new freight to ensure it is executed flawlessly. Assign new business to appropriate team member. Manager/supervisors may be required to operate and oversee in the short term to ensure success. Manage needs for equipment, power, and gate reservations daily to ensure all customer needs are met to include XMP program. Expand carrier base to assist in available opportunities for increased profitability and service as needed. Communicate to Director of Intermodal Operations systemic capacity issues and provide possible solutions. Communicate with railroads and vendors to assist in meeting capacity commitments, involve Director if needed. Manage the maintenance and accuracy of the operating system and workbenches to ensure all information is correct and up-to-date. Ensure all trailer pools are accurate and up-to-date to ensure per diem exposure is kept to a minimum and assets are reaching maximum productivity. Assist IBC with daily operational challenges such as misroutes, overweight's, drayage recovery, etc. Manage dwell time to ensure we are operating at maximum efficiency incurring minimal dwell expense.Utilize daily REZ report to ensure units are turning timely. Manager will reconcile REZ statement for assigned team accounts to ensure dwell time is accounted for and dwell costs are controlled. Work with Intermodal Business Coordinators to implement new processes if necessary to reduce exposure to dwell expense. Manage and coordinate training of new and existing employees on basic operations as well as establish on-going training sessions on operating systems and market knowledge. Assign account base to IBC based on skill set and knowledge level. Ensure IMC accounts and team assignments are balanced. Manage Hazmat process. Ensure all Intermodal staff members are current on Hazmat certification. Train Intermodal Business Coordinators on system requirements for Hazmat shipments. Manage account coverage. Work with Intermodal Business Coordinators to ensure full coverage for each desk during vacations and personal time away from the office. Manage extended coverage schedule to reach maximum optimization, including nights and weekends, to ensure business needs are met with minimal overtime.Coordinate needs with Director of Intermodal Operations. Manage override costs daily with IBCs and Operations to reduce overrides by reviewing current processes, negotiating with carriers, securing approvals and billing customers timely. Review weekly override report and work to ensure systemic issues are resolved. Monitor problem invoices to ensure underlying cause is corrected and future issues are avoided. Ensure problem invoices are handled and returned timely. Manage weekly staff meeting agenda. Coordinate to establish weekly staff meeting agenda. Distribute overrides, Perfect Shipment data, and agenda to all staff members.Ensure minimum of one training session during a staff meeting is completed bi-monthly. Staffing: Ensure staffing coverage is in place for PTO time taken, after-hours, and weekends. In order to offer coverage you must have a full understanding of all accounts on your team and be fully versed in managing of those accounts as needed.
