Description

Primary Function:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing general accountability for medical supply inventory, accounts payable, and grants accounting. This position will also provide backup coverage for various functions within the Department of Finance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs a review of inventory and drug expense invoices to ensure that all necessary documentation and materials are received prior to final approval.
2. Oversees daily coding and postings of cash receipts for assigned entities.
3. Ensures that vendor statements are reconciled against all open accounts payable invoices.
4. Maintains medical supply invoices and matches with corresponding purchase orders.
5. Assists with 1099 reporting.
6. Develops monthly invoices for rent and collects physician payments.
7. Maintains files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policies and generally accepted accounting standards.
8. Upholds the confidentiality of proprietary information and takes all necessary precautions to prevent unauthorized disclosure of sensitive materials.
9. Formulates and maintains effective working relationships with peers, vendors and management and functions as an effective team member.
10. Performs other related duties and special projects incidental to the work described herein.

Position Requirements

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required

Licensure:

CPA preferred

Experience:
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years accounting experience in a healthcare setting required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and possesses ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
