The purpose of the role is lead the Risk Control efforts and to guarantee compliance with legal requirements and Company policies:
To assure the structuring, maintenance and control of EHS systems, processes and activities in the Albany plant To ensure the identification of solutions for the improvement of the EHS systems processes and activities To assure the knowledge, training and information about all Regulations regarding the occupational health, safety and environmental protection in the Albany plant
This is role is part of the Site Leadership Team and reports directly to the Albany Site Director and functionally to the Angelini Pharma Global EHS Director in Italy.
Responsibilities & Specific Functions Develops, implements, and maintains execution of plant safety program and related initiatives to further develop a Safety Culture Evaluates Safety and Health risks and provides key support to the Albany site for the purposes of ensuring a high standard of compliance to all relevant regulations and Angelini Pharma standards. Routinely coordinates and tracks site safety equipment and systems inspections Facilitates EHS internal audits and the related improvement and corrective EHS action plan; Works closely with other Angelini EHS professionals, Engineering, and Site Operating Units (at a variety of levels), to improve the safety of colleagues and associated systems along with ensuring compliance with EHS requirements Manages Safety Training programs and provides/delivers training, as applicable Leads Safety Champions meetings, First AID and First Responder Teams Performs EHS Risk Assessments for various site activities Tracks and reports EHS metrics monthly, quarterly, and annually Updates and maintains Safety and Facility standard operation procedures Leads Safety Incident Investigations Provides technical support/review for the evaluation of machine guarding, LOTO, safe work permitting practices. Acts as the primary technical SME in assigned subject areas such as lockout, confined space, hot work, safe work permitting, fall protection, safety inspections, safety culture, EHS investigations, management of change, etc. Collaborates (with an EHS perspective) in the development of new processes, equipment, projects, and products Maintains the EHS Emergency Plan and any other emergency needs Analyzes incident reports and root causes to indicate corrective and improvement measures Monitors and reports EHS management system metrics and KPIs Ensures that all EHS documentation is adequately maintained, reviewed and updated Facilitates the relationship with third parties, including occupational health resources, for plant audits (Agencies, Authorities and any further Organization) and other needs Guarantees the adequate EHS qualification process for service contractors for the Site, including contractor adherence to company and regulatory compliance requirements Collaborates with Angelini Pharma EHS in defining the methods of introduction, management and handling, storage, shipping and disposal of substances/mixtures, materials and products, and their import/export Manages waste to assure the US EHS legal requirements and Company Policies; Supports the maintenance of environmental protection systems (air, water and waste); Supports the EHS budget process (costs, investments, people). Develops and maintains compliance with the Site’s Legar Register Reports Site data to State and Federal Regulatory Agencies
Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Health & Safety or a closely related discipline (preferred), plus at least 5 years of relevant industrial safety experience. Practical experience in manufacturing, GMP or ISO environment (required) Holds current board certification as an Associate Certified Safety Professional or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) (preferred) Experience working within a site EHS program, interpreting and implementing OSHA regulations is required. Experience performing and managing gap assessments and internal audit programs. Knowledge and/or experience with understanding and implementing OSHA regulatory requirements Solid experience in building successful safety cultures and demonstrates the ability to successfully influence and engage colleagues with the ability to partner with cross functional teams Ability to solve technical problems and provide technical support Collaborates as a team player, able to work cross-functionally with other company departments and stakeholders. Experience with OSHA VPP and ISO 14001 Preferred Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) Uses good time management skills; Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects Understands Regulatory and Production content requirements Open minded and flexible, able to understand other cultures Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills, along with professional maturity Possesses flexibility to be available to conduct/support safety investigations and ensuring safe conditions; may need to extend work schedule to manage workload or emergencies
