Our client, a manufacturer in Irvington, NJ, is seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager. The successful candidate will provide leadership in driving continuous improvement in Environment, Health, Safety performance and risk reduction. This role will lead a team of direct reports and will provide technical expertise across all functions to ensure a compliant and safe workplace for all employees, visitors, and contractors. This leadership role reports to the Director EHS M&A and is an exciting opportunity to build an EHS program and change company culture. Monday-Friday onsite Salary starts at $170,000/year, commensurate with experience Annual bonus opportunity Responsibilities to include : Lead the Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S) Team providing technical expertise and achieving injury, illness, & risk reduction objectives. Manage EHS metrics, reports, permits, and other documents as required by regulatory agencies and corporate management. · Perform EHS risk assessments as required (e.g., Safety Risk Assessments, PPE Hazard Assessments, IH Qualitative Assessments). · Promote EHS compliance and risk reduction through detailed EHS programs, leadership participation & engagement, employee training, inspections, and auditing. · Maintain site permits, licenses, and certificates. · Fully implement Serious Injury & Fatality Prevention Program (SIFP) that includes recognition & reaction to event precursors. · Develop and manage the EHS budget. · Represent the company at audits and site visits by the local authorities and customers. · Conduct formal and systematic reviews of facility operations and activities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies related to CAA, CWA, RCRA, TSCA, SARA etc. and applicable city, county, and state regulations. Create and drive action plans to implement identified corrective actions. · Conduct formal and systematic reviews of facility operations and activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies related to OSHA, OHDOL, Machine Guarding, LOTO, Work at Height, Powered Industrial Vehicles, Industrial Hygiene, Confined Space Entry, Event Root Cause Analysis & Emergency Preparedness. Create and drive action plans to implement identified corrective actions. · Routinely monitor regulatory changes to ensure continued compliance with upcoming changes in federal, state, and local rules and regulations · Provide regular reports regarding compliance status, the cost of compliance and the results of audits and inspections to the plant leader, business unit EHS director and segment or enterprise leaders as necessary. . Implement an EHS Management of Change program. · Conduct formal and systematic reviews of facility operations and activities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies related to CAA, CWA, RCRA, TSCA, SARA etc. and applicable city, county, and state regulations. And also compliance with safety regulations and company policies related to OSHA, NJDOL, Machine Guarding, LOTO, Work at Height, Powered Industrial Vehicles, Industrial Hygiene, Confined Space Entry, Event Root Cause Analysis & Emergency Preparedness. · Create and drive action plans to implement identified corrective actions. Qualifications/Requirements: BA Degree in EHS or related field required. At least 10+ years’ experience implementing an EHS management system within a chemical or manufacturing setting required. Professional safety or environmental certification highly preferred (i.e. CSP, CIH, CHMM) Previous experience in EHS excellence programs (e.g., VPP, ISO 45001 / 14001) preferred. Experience in a variety of technical safety disciplines such as machine safety, LOTO, Compressed Gas, and Industrial Hygiene. Experience in hazardous waste management, stormwater, wastewater, air compliance, chemical management reporting, SPCC plan coordination, EPCRA reporting and emergency response coordination. Experience achieving sustainability-related goals for Scope 1, 2 and 3. Previous experience in managing, coaching, & developing direct reports.
