Qualifications

To be considered, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Basic Requirements:

Education: A degree from an accredited professional nursing program (bachelor’s, associate, or diploma) recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or relevant accrediting bodies.

Foreign Nursing School: Certification from the Commission of Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for graduates from foreign schools.

Licensure: Must have passed the NCLEX and hold a current, active, unrestricted license as a professional nurse from a U.S. state, D.C., Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory. Applicants must upload proof of licensure when applying.

Credentialing: Qualified candidates will undergo credentialing, including validation of medical examinations, education, internship, and residency. Please upload these documents with your application.

In addition, applicants need:

  • At least one year of professional nursing experience at the GS-09 level or above, with a diploma, associate, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in Nursing.

Examples of qualifying experience include:

  • Administering various drugs, including during dialysis, with knowledge of dosages, routes, and reactions.
  • Performing medical techniques involving dialysis equipment, chemical testing, cardiac monitors, suction, and oxygen devices.
  • Administering IV fluids, blood products, and managing A-V fistulas for dialysis.

Experience can be paid or unpaid; provide actual time spent in activities. Your application responses determine your eligibility.
