Duties

If selected for this position, you will serve as the Secretary to the First Assistant United States Attorney (FAUSA), providing a variety of technical and administrative support services.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication, including fingerprint, credit, and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable background investigation.
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications

GS-9:

You must have at least ONE full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-8 level in Federal Service.

Specialized Experience:

Examples include performing high-level secretarial and administrative support functions, such as maintaining calendars, reviewing outgoing correspondence (e.g., case files, legal documents, reports), and developing or modifying office procedures. Such experience should have equipped the applicant with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position.

Typing at least 40 words per minute on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors is required; a typing test may be administered later.

Additional Considerations

ICTAP: Provides eligible displaced Federal employees with selection priority. Proof of eligibility (e.g., written notification or separation personnel action) must be provided.

CTAP: Provides eligible surplus and displaced Department of Justice employees with selection priority. Proof of eligibility must be provided.
