Responsibilities
- Safely operates a heavy-duty truck to perform assigned duties on transfer routes in accordance with OSHA and DOT requirements and company expectations for the fleet; maintains a clean and safe vehicle.
- Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of the assigned vehicle using the Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR); notes all issues for corrective review/repair.
- Immediately reports any unsafe situations or service calls to Operations Manager or Dispatch before attempting service.
- Participates in all scheduled training, briefings, and meetings as required by Operations Manager.
- Works closely with Operations Managers to improve route efficiencies and identify problematic or unsafe accounts.
- Performs all duties as scheduled by Operations Manager or Dispatch, and assists other company drivers as directed.
- Notifies Operations Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
- Notifies Dispatch or Operations Manager of issues as prescribed by Service Machine protocol, including blocked containers or potential missed pickups.
- Communicates customer requests or issues to Dispatch or Operations Manager.
- Completely dumps all containers and leaves the customer’s location clean and debris-free.
- Completes and submits customer tickets when excess yardage must be removed.
- Positions containers on the customer’s property so lids are properly replaced, containers are upright, and do not block driveways or traffic.
- Follows route assignments and completes all documentation at check-in and check-out.
Qualifications
- Education: None required.
- Experience: No prior work experience required; industry experience preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications: Commercial Driver's License (CDL) B is required; applicants must be at least 18 years old.
- Screening: Successfully complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and background check, including previous employment and motor vehicle record review; acceptable driving record required.
