Our client is seeking an experienced

Senior Buyer (Steel)

to join their team. This critical role will oversee the purchasing department and manage all vendor relationships to ensure efficient and cost-effective procurement processes. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in purchasing, particularly within the steel industry, and thrive in a small company environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to take ownership of procurement strategies and drive operational success. Key ***** Develop, implement, and manage overall purchasing strategies to support production goals and budget requirements. Source steel materials and negotiate contracts with vendors to maximize value and build long-term supplier relationships. Oversee and manage day-to-day purchasing operations, including orders, inventory control, and vendor communications. Evaluate supplier performance to ensure compliance with quality, pricing, and delivery standards. Use analytical skills to identify cost-saving and efficiency-improvement opportunities within the supply chain. Collaborate with internal teams (Production, Operations, Quality Control) to ensure purchasing aligns with company objectives. Monitor market trends affecting steel prices and proactively plan for material procurement adjustments. Implement and uphold purchasing policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.

Proven ability to work effectively in a smaller team environment with limited resources, demonstrating multitasking and self-direction. *****

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field preferred (but not required). Strong negotiation and vendor relationship management skills. Knowledge of ERP systems, inventory management tools, and purchasing software is a plus. Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
