Legal Counsel: Offer expert legal counsel to HR professionals, managers, and executives on a broad spectrum of labor and employment law issues, including discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, wage and hour compliance, employee benefits, and workplace safety. Policy Development: Collaborate with HR and management to develop, review, and refine employment policies, procedures, and employee handbooks, ensuring alignment with federal, state, and local laws. Contract Review and Negotiation: Review, draft, and negotiate employment contracts, including executive, severance, and non-compete agreements. Litigation Management: Oversee labor and employment-related litigation, manage external counsel, and represent the hospital system in administrative proceedings. Training and Education: Develop and deliver training on labor and employment law compliance and best practices. Compliance Monitoring: Stay updated on changes in labor and employment laws and ensure ongoing compliance. Risk Management: Identify legal risks and mitigate them effectively. Dispute Resolution: Facilitate resolution of employment disputes via negotiation or alternative dispute resolution. Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Admission to the New York or New Jersey State Bar in good standing. Minimum of 6 years of experience practicing labor law; healthcare experience preferred. Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local labor laws as they apply to healthcare settings. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
