We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented
Import Specialist
to support and manage international import operations. This role will focus on ensuring full compliance with
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
regulations, with a particular emphasis on imports from
China, Thailand, and Mexico
. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in
Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification
, country-of-origin requirements, and U.S. import laws and procedures. Key Responsibilities: Classify imported products accurately using appropriate
HTS codes
, ensuring correct duty assessments and compliance with U.S. trade laws. Coordinate and manage the importation process from origin to final destination, working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and internal stakeholders. Monitor and interpret regulatory updates affecting imports from
China, Thailand, and Mexico
, including changes in duties, tariffs, and trade agreements. Ensure timely and accurate submission of customs entry documentation and resolve any issues with CBP or Partner Government Agencies (PGAs). Support compliance with
USMCA
, Section 301 tariffs, anti-dumping and countervailing duties (ADD/CVD), and other relevant trade regulations. Maintain and audit import records in accordance with U.S. customs requirements. Collaborate with sourcing, procurement, and logistics teams to identify and implement cost-saving and risk mitigation strategies. Assist in preparing responses to CBP inquiries, audits, or requests for information. Develop and maintain SOPs and compliance checklists for import operations. Provide internal training and guidance on import regulations and documentation best practices.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field preferred. 3–5+ years of experience
in U.S. import compliance, international logistics, or trade operations. Strong knowledge of U.S. import regulations, including HTS classification, customs valuation, and CBP entry processes. Experience with imports from
China, Thailand, and Mexico
and understanding of region-specific trade practices. Familiarity with ERP and trade compliance systems; experience with
ACE
,
ABI
, or similar tools is preferred. Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications: U.S. Customs Broker License (preferred but not required) Experience working with international vendors and freight providers
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of job-related factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, certifications, education, location and other business and organizational needs.
