Overview Embedded Software Engineer (1-4 years experience) - Fort Lauderdale, FL Job title: Software Engineer at Actalent. The Software Engineer is part of the R&D team and will work on both Repair Capability and New Product Development. Responsibilities span from low layer (hardware interfacing) to high level (UI interfacing) software. The role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure technologies are interconnected and projects are delivered on time with quality. What You’ll Do Develop new product concepts and designs; support delivery of prototypes and final products to specifications and project requirements. Conduct design reviews at the project level; collaborate with peers on technical design, development, work estimation, system integration, and testing; participate in cross-functional design discussions. Develop and run software verification and validation test routines. Deconstruct code and algorithms to study, analyze, and learn details of designs, construction, and operation; document systems including testing and validation. Apply understanding of existing product and clinical applications to define new product or process functionality. Ensure safety and regulatory standards are followed with respect to design, application requirements, and proper maintenance. Demonstrate independent analysis and synthesis of solutions, showing creativity, foresight, innovation and judgment in problem solving. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. 2+ years related experience in programming, software application design and development for embedded products. Proficiency with C, Python; source code control (Git, SVN, JIRA, etc.). Understanding of embedded systems and architectures; experience in embedded Linux. Proficiency in debugging code and improving performance of existing programs. Basic understanding of electrical components and circuitry; hardware/software bring-ups. Familiar with all aspects of software development life cycle (requirements, design, implementation, test) and Agile/Waterfall methods. Nice-to-have: C++, Assembly; GUI Zero, QT framework, OpenCV; experience with camera systems, image processing, computer vision; experience in the medical device domain and FDA regulation (IEC62304 / IEC60601); cross-disciplinary engineering knowledge (software, hardware, mechanical). Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on job classification and length of employment.
