Job Title: Mechanical Designer Job Description

The Mechanical Designer creates innovative and practical mechanical and electromechanical concepts and designs for components, assemblies, tools, and products of varying complexity. This role involves close collaboration with engineering, vendors, manufacturing, quality, and customers to ensure design specifications are met. The designer ensures that all designs are free of layout process defects and may assist engineers with defining design standards and configurations. Utilizing Computer Aided Design (Creo 7), the designer applies methodologies, theories, and techniques to produce efficient designs.

Responsibilities

Create innovative mechanical and electromechanical concepts and designs for complex components and assemblies.

Collaborate with engineering, vendors, manufacturing, quality, and customers on design specifications.

Ensure designs are free of layout process defects.

Assist engineers in defining design standards and configurations.

Apply Computer Aided Design methodologies using Creo 7.

Review completed engineering documents for compliance with standards and accuracy.

Provide expert technical consultation to the division and customer community.

Develop innovative concepts for existing and new product lines.

Prepare design layouts, schematics, or sketches for system integration requirements.

Prepare drawing packages to military or equivalent standards.

Check completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, and conformance to standards.

Evaluate completed drawings for producibility and viability of design.

Perform and document technical calculations for design evaluations and tolerance studies.

Identify assembly interference, design errors, and recommend improvements.

Interface with internal and external customers to solve technical problems.

Essential Skills

Mechanical Designer expertise with Pro-E and Creo.

Experience in mechanical design, sheet metal, and GD&T.

Minimum of an associate degree in CAD Technology or Drafting and Design.

Minimum of 3+ years using CAD modeling tools with CREO.

Minimum of 3+ years in concept and preliminary design experience.

Experience in large structures and assembly design, preferably in Military/DOD space.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Strong team player.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Work Environment

The Mechanical Designer will work in an office setting alongside other designers, drafters, and engineers. The role requires cross-functional communication with various areas within the organization.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
