POSITION SUMMARY

The Receptionist answers and directs the calls to the appropriate people. Takes and distributes messages and mail for the Sisters, provides information, and answers the door when guests arrive.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent desirable.
  • Experience interacting with the public.
  • Ability to speak, write English.
  • Well-groomed and appropriately dressed.
  • Good common sense.
  • Handle confidential information with the utmost care.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Know and carry out the charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph - to unite neighbor with neighbor and neighbor with God.
  • Speaks clearly, distinctly, and with a friendly courteous tone. Uses listening skills to put callers at ease and obtain accurate, complete information.
  • Answers incoming calls.
  • Directs calls to the Sisters, staff or departments.
  • Places outgoing calls as requested by the Administrator/Designee.
  • Assists in reporting telephone equipment or service complaints or problems.
  • Trains or assists with training new telephone operators in the performance of job duties.
  • Open and close telephone functionality of the Convent front office.
  • Keep records of calls placed and received by the operator.
  • Follow telephone etiquette.
  • Assists Nursing Dept with providing insurance information in response to medical mail.
  • Assists Sisters and Nursing Dept. in coordinating medical appointments off site and transportation if needed.
  • Other duties as requested by Convent Administrator.
